Sony and mSpot Sign Ringtone deal

Sony Music Entertainment and mSpot have entered into a ringtone distribution agreement that will add Sony’s catalog of artists to mSpot’s collection of over 400,000 song titles.
mSpot’s customers can find the new Sony tracks through the Make-UR-Tones mobile application available on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon cell phones. The application lets listeners select full-track songs and edit them to create short, customized ringtones.
mSpot now offers ringtones form all four major labels, including EMI, Warner Music, and Universal, along with indies Ingrooves and IRIS. Companies like mSpot, Myxer, and Jamster offer ringtones separately as well as through various agreements with the major carriers.
Acer Announces P244W LCD Monitor at Computex 08

Acer has announced the world’s first 24-inches full high-definition (FHD) wide-screen LCD monitor with 1080p resolution and 16:9 ratio at Computex 08. The P244W LCD monitor is targeted at gamers, designers and home-theater enthusiasts.
Apart from the wide-screen aspect ratio, the P244W LCD monitor also includes display technologies such as Adaptive Contrast Management (ACM) for enhanced gradation and detail, especially for dimmer and brighter scenes. It supports a superior contrast ratio of up to 20,000:1, rapid response time up to 2ms, and immersive graphics and video display to offer considerable improvement of gray-to-gray level, the most important factor in moving-picture viewing experiences.
Aesthetically speaking, the P244W sports a shiny black bezel with a polished black base and gleaming silver arm. Furthermore, there’s a convenient, touch-sensitive on-screen display (OSD). Additionally, it is compliant with Microsoft Vista OS, and supports HDMIT for projecting HD movies and high-impact gaming. Acer eColor helps in better managing color.
Motorola Moto Rokr U9 launched in India

Motorola has launched their latest product Moto Rokr U9 in the Indian market. The launch ceremony was attended by brand ambassador Wyclef Jean who presented the first U9 to ‘Miss India World 2008′ Parvathy Omanakuttan.
The US based mobile phone maker said that this phone comes loaded with cutting-edge mobile music capabilities.
The phone features a metallic gloss finish with a border-less external display. It has one-touch access to music library for the user and the device pauses the music whenever a call comes in. the song resumes after the call is ended.
Motorola said that the ROKR U9 features support for various file formats including WMA, MP3, AAC, AAC+, AAC+ enhanced. It supports up to 4GB of storage but has just 25MB of internal memory.
The company would offer two editions of the phone. One would come with 1GB card while the more expensive version would sell with 2GB card and stereo Bluetooth Rokr S9.
Xbox 360 Head Mohit Anand bids adieu to Microsoft India

Mohit Anand, the Country Manager, Microsoft Entertainment & Devices Division, Microsoft India has bid adieu to the company.
Mohit Anand himself has officially acknowledged that he has put down his papers at Microsoft India and post a notice period of 6 weeks, which ends by 15th April. Anand said that he may be leaving the company but he is absolutely determined to remain in India and pursue his dreams.
Negating any kind of animosity, hostility or internal issues as the reason behind his departure from the company, Anand now states that in his 8-years tryst with Microsoft India, where he held the senior most position in the Entertainment and Devices division, he has formed some associations that are sure to last for life. His move from the company, as per him, is purely due to choice and has not got any internal spat etc as the cause for his exit.
Microsoft India’s Xbox 360 poster boy - Anand played a key role during the India launch of the Microsoft’s Xbox 360 gaming console and also during the subsequent game title releases in the country. It’s not officially known as of now as to who would be filling into Anand’s shoes which indeed are quite big.
Mohit Anand also said that he would make a formal announcement soon on what he intends to do next and the arrangement that he has reached with the new company he will be joining.
Whether Anand’s departure will leave a vacuum or not at Microsoft India, only time will tell.
